About the project
The municipal inspection department of Kamianets-Podilskyi issues parking fines in the city. We built its public website so a driver can find a fine in a few seconds, see what it was issued for and pay it right away, without calling or visiting the office.
What we built:
- Fine search: search by licence plate or by fine number on the home page. Plates are matched however they are typed: lower or upper case, Latin or Cyrillic letters that look the same (A, B, E, I, K, M, H, O, P, C, T, X).
- Fine card: violation, clarification, address, date and time, car make and model, amount, and the photo of the violation with zoom, loaded from the inspection's system when the card is opened.
- Online payment: a Privat24 payment button on every fine and a page with bank details for paying at any bank.
- Integration with the fines system: the site connects to the inspection's records system over its API. A scheduled task checks for new fines every minute, saves them to the site's database and marks them as received, so a fine appears on the site soon after it is issued.
- Information for citizens: pages on parking fines, the 50% discount for paying within 10 days, evacuation and storage of vehicles, parking locations, regulations, contacts and an FAQ.
- Design for a public service: a clear layout on the Dia font used across Ukrainian e-government services, breadcrumbs, a preloader and full support for phones.
Result: the city got an official online service where drivers check and pay their fines on their own, and the inspection gets fewer calls and visits about them.
